About Fragranova
Editorial Encyclopedia of Fragrance
Who We Are
Fragranova is a small, independently-run editorial site dedicated to making fragrance knowledge accessible. We launched in 2026 with one goal: build the most useful, honest, and well-organized resource for people who care about how they smell — and the work that goes into getting that right.
Our catalog covers 9,500+ fragrances, 800+ houses, and 570+ perfumers. Every entry combines structured data (note pyramid, accords, performance, seasonality) with original editorial reads written by our team.
The Fragranova Editorial Team
Fragranova's reviews and editorial takes are written and reviewed by a small group of fragrance writers and enthusiasts operating under the byline "Fragranova Editors." Every fragrance page on the site carries an editorial paragraph evaluating composition, performance, and positioning — written in our own voice, never copied from other databases or marketing copy.
We use AI assistance for the first draft of long-tail fragrance entries, then review and ship under editorial oversight. Every editorial paragraph is a piece of our authored content, not a redistributed third-party description.
How We Source Data
- Composition data (notes, accords, perfumer attribution) is aggregated from publicly available manufacturer listings and verified against community submissions.
- Performance & seasonality (longevity, sillage, day/night, season fit) come from community ratings — every signed-in user can vote, and ratings are weighted by total votes received.
- Reviews are written by both registered community members (with attribution) and our editorial team (under the "Fragranova Editors" byline).
- Clone matches are submitted by the community and verified before publication. We never claim a clone relationship without at least one cross-checked source.
Our Editorial Standards
- Originality. Our editorial paragraphs are written for Fragranova. We do not republish manufacturer copy or content from competing fragrance databases.
- Transparency about uncertainty. When community data is too sparse to support a claim (for example, fewer than 30 votes on a new release), our editorial language reflects that — we say "early reads suggest" rather than "this fragrance is."
- No paid placements in editorial. "Best of" lists, comparisons, and verdicts on individual fragrances are not influenced by retailer commissions. Affiliate links may appear in commerce widgets but never inside an editorial recommendation.
- Corrections. If you spot factual errors — wrong perfumer, missing note, incorrect launch year — email corrections@fragranova.com with a source. We update within 72 hours.
- AI-assisted, human-reviewed. We disclose use of AI for first drafts of long-tail entries because we think readers deserve to know.
