Decants are how the fragrance community samples expensive fragrances without buying a full bottle. A 5mL decant of a $300 fragrance might cost $8–$15 on a decant site — enough for 30–60 wears, which is plenty to decide if you actually want the full bottle. Reputable decanters (Decant Boutique, Surrender to Chance, Scent Split) source from authenticated full bottles. Avoid "decants" sold on Amazon or random eBay listings — those are often counterfeits or aged stock. Decanting is one of the few low-cost ways to evaluate a fragrance honestly, since blind buying a $200 bottle on Instagram hype is a fast way to lose money.
